Call for abstracts

The Australian COPD Symposium 2026 Scientific Committee invites prospective authors to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations for a wide range of themes. Submissions can be made via the Abstract Submission Portal linked below.


All abstracts must follow the instructions listed below and be submitted online by 23:59 (AEST), Sunday 5 April 2026. Please note that the closing date for abstract submissions will not be extended.

Abstract format

All abstracts are required to use the below subheadings:

  • Introduction
  • Context and Aim
  • Method
  • Results
  • Contribution to policy, practice and/or research

Oral Presentation

All oral presentations will be grouped into sessions throughout the symposium.

Further specifications about oral presentation submissions will be sent to successful authors.

Poster Presentation

All posters will be on display throughout the symposium.

Further specifications about poster presentations will be sent to successful authors.

Abstract review criteria

Introduction - is the introduction clear in explaining the topic area/concept to be covered and its relevance

Method/implementation - is the objective of the work clear and evidence-based and well implemented

Results/learning - must clearly indicate the findings and outcomes, or learnings of the work

Innovation contribution to policy, practice and/or research - does the submission show a contribution to policy, practice and/or research Contribution to policy, practice and/or research of COPD

Click on the submit abstract button to open the portal and create an author account.

Complete the online submission form and update conracr details.

Accept the abstract terms and conditions and submit your abstract.

Once submitted you will receive an automated submission confirmation email.

Terms and conditions

  • The presenting author must submit the abstract.
  • Abstract's are limited to one presenting author.
  • Authors are required to use the abstract headings listed in the submission portal.
  • There is no fee for submitting an abstract.
  • Abstracts must not exceed 250 words (excluding headings) and should follow the instructions within the portal.
  • The use of abbreviations and acronyms should be kept to a minimum.
  • Only abstracts submitted in English will be reviewed.
  • Communication regarding the abstract will be sent only to the submitting author.
  • All submissions must be made via the online abstract submission portal and adhere to the submission guidelines. Failure to do so will result in your abstract being declined. Emailed submissions will not be accepted.
  • All abstracts must be received by the advertised closing date. Submissions recieved after this date will not be considered.
  • Abstracts are not to include promotions of specific products/or services, unless they are integral to the context of the topic.
  • Accepted authors agree to have their abstract published in the digital abstract book. Authors must ensure their abstract is accurate, clear, and fully proofread before submitting, as Lung Foundation Australia takes no responsibility for errors in published abstracts. 
  • Abstracts may be accepted as a different format or in a different theme than that indicated in the submission.
  • Accepted presenters must register to attend the symposium and are responsible for their own travel and accommodation.
  • Accepted presenters must be available to present on any day of the symposium, as decided by Lung Foundation Australia.
